How to deal with negative beings

Since we happen to be in the middle of the Hungry Ghost Festival right now, I thought I’d use this opportunity to talk about negative beings: entities, ghosts, spirits and so on. Don’t worry, I’m not going to freak you out! I only want to share some information that might help you.

Negative beings are everywhere

Negative beings show up in nearly every session I do. No matter how young or old, almost every person I’ve worked with has had such attachments. Does that surprise or scare you?

Don’t let it get to you! We live in a sea of energy, and in that sea exist beings like the above. Just like there are lots of creatures in the ocean, some of which are harmless and some which can be dangerous. Or think of them like germs. You can’t see them, but they’re everywhere and unavoidable.

Is it your fault they attached to you?

When clients find out they had attachments, a lot of people start to worry. The first question I get asked is, “Did I do anything to attract them to me?”

Well, yes and no.

Yes, because if you’ve been under a lot of stress and down with negative thoughts and feelings, you’re emanating vibes that are the perfect food for these beings. If you happen to go somewhere or see someone with low vibes, the negative beings that were hanging around might connect with you. Or they might connect while you’re sleeping or zoned out.

But, no, you didn’t attract them on purpose. The only reason why they can connect with you in the first place is because your energetic boundaries aren’t healthy enough to repel them. Same as your immune system; if it’s weak, you can’t repel pathogens so you get sick.

What not to do to protect yourself

Naturally, the next question that follows is, “What can I do to protect myself from these attachments?”

To be honest, I don’t think building ultra-strong protective shields is the answer.

It puts the focus on shielding and perpetuates worry. You’ll keep asking yourself, “Is my shield strong enough?” And all the amulets, protective prayers, rituals, essences and the like won’t be enough to reassure you.

What to do instead

What I would suggest, rather, is strengthen your energy.

For example:

  • Be mindful of what you allow into your space: who and where you hang out with, what emotions you pay attention to, what you eat and drink, what music you listen to, what you follow on social media, what information you absorb.
  • Check your environment: the state of your home, room or desk can affect you, so do what you need to do to make it work for you, not against you.
  • Take care of your health: physically, emotionally, mentally.

When your energy is fit and strong, negative beings can’t find weaknesses to exploit so they can’t connect with you. Even if they do, they may fall away as you regain your strength. (As an added bonus, having stronger energy will work on human beings, too – the toxic ones!)

This is what I learned and observed over the years as a practitioner. It’s possible I might encounter something that will make me reevaluate everything I know about how to deal with these beings, but so far it’s holding up.
